Welcome to Generation Blue PAC!
Generation Blue is an organization of young professionals who hold regular cocktail receptions where we meet and raise funds for Democratic candidates in key Senate and House races that determine control of Congress.
Campaigns sponsored by Generation Blue are chosen by our membership. Generation Blue members also participate in conference calls with the campaigns, give policy advice, receive briefings, and can have their blog included on our blogroll. In 2006, Generation Blue’s predecessor organization held coordinated events with Senators Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Sherrod Brown of Ohio, and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. We also raised money for Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey. Our efforts raised nearly $35,000 helping all three challengers win their races and take back the Senate.
“The folks behind Generation Blue worked very hard to help me in 2006 and I really appreciated their contribution to the success of my campaign.”
— Senator Claire McCaskill
In 2007-2008, Generation Blue raised an additional $37,000 and held events with two sitting United States Senators, Chuck Schumer and Mary Landrieu, as well as three challengers, Mark Udall of Colorado, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Jeff Merkley of Oregon. Generation Blue gave the maximum allowable contribution to Senator Landrieu as well Mark Udall, Jeanne Shaheen and Jeff Merkley. Generation Blue also made small contributions to challengers Tom Udall of New Mexico and Tom Allen of Maine. Finally, down the stretch Generation Blue raised $2200 for challenger Kay Hagan in North Carolina. With the exception of Tom Allen of Maine, every candidate we supported won their race, meaning over 99% of the money raised or contributed went to five winning candidates.
When Generation Blue started in its previous incarnation in 2006, there were 44 Democrats in the Senate. Over three years, eight events, and about $72,000 later, there are now 59 Senators in the Democratic caucus. In the next campaign cycle, Generation Blue hopes to bring even more young professionals into the political process and finally help create a Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate that is filibuster-proof.
Joining and contributing to Generation Blue is the best possible way to ensue Democratic control of Congress and impact the direction of the country. Join today!
